Fundy Coastal Drive

Visit the beautiful Bay of Fundy while enjoying a trip along the Fundy Coastal Drive. This scenic drive stretches along the entire southern shore of New Brunswick linking the US Border at Calais, Maine & St. Stephen, NB with the Nova Scotia border just beyond Sackville, NB.

 

One of the Marine Wonders of the World, the great Bay of Fundy Tides can be viewed safely from the region of Alma, with viewing stands and guided tours at Hopewell Rocks.

Along the Fundy Coast, explore the Fundy Isles of Campobello, Grand Manan, and Deer Island. Indulge during a stop in St. Stephen, where the Ganong Family has been producing chocolates for three generations. Go on a whale watching cruise or garden tour in St. Andrews-by–the-Sea, which has been a popular summer getaway for over a century.

 

Railroad buffs will delight in the Salem and Hillsborough Railroad, and Acadian culture is always on show in the village of Memramcook. Birdwatching is important in Sackville and St. Martins. St. Martins also has echo caves to explore. The first UNSCO geopark in North America, Stonehammer, includes this part of the Fundy Coastal Drive and also Fundy National Park near Alma.

 

The main city, Saint John, was an early port town and is the first incorporated city in Canada. It offers a variety of shopping and nightlife, wonders like the Reversing Falls, and cultural activities including the New Brunswick Museum. Moncton is the retail centre of the Maritimes and only a 40-minute drive to Confederation Bridge leading to Prince Edward Island. The city of Dieppe offers shopping, including an organic food market, and the Greater Moncton international Airport.

 

Local festivals include the Atlantic Seafood Festival, the World Wine & Food Expo, and the Northop Frye Literary Festival.
